Aki Rissanen is a Finnish pianist and composer who has swiftly ascended to the forefront of the European jazz scene. Born in Kuopio in 1980, Rissanen's musical journey began with classical piano training, but his heart soon found a home in jazz. His trio, featuring bassist Antti Lötjönen and drummer Teppo Mäkynen, has released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Amorandom," "Another North," and "Art in Motion," all on Edition Records. Rissanen's music is a blend of rhythmic intensity, sonic exploration, and emotional depth, drawing inspiration from both jazz and classical traditions.
