About Hayden Chisholm

Hayden Chisholm is a saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist hailing from New Zealand, renowned for his innovative approach to jazz, improvised music, and contemporary classical genres. Born in New Plymouth, Chisholm's musical journey began with local Dixieland bands, eventually leading him to develop a unique microtonal system for the saxophone, which he debuted on his solo album "Circe." His distinctive sound and compositional voice have earned him international acclaim, with performances and collaborations spanning Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa. Chisholm's work is marked by his exploration of unconventional tuning systems and his ability to blend various musical traditions, as evident in his collaborations with artists like Kit Downes and the Balkan vocal quintet PJEV. Beyond his performing career, Chisholm is also a dedicated educator, sharing his knowledge through masterclasses worldwide.
