Albert Marquès is a captivating jazz pianist, composer, and political activist hailing from the industrial town of Granollers, just outside Barcelona. Born into a working-class family, Marquès' musical journey began amidst the punk scene of his hometown, later drawing inspiration from jazz legends like Chick Corea, Brad Mehldau, and Herbie Hancock. His unique sound is a mesmerising fusion of contemporary jazz, Latin jazz, and Flamenco jazz, reflecting his diverse influences and experiences.

Marquès' activism began in his teenage years as a member of a Catalan anti-capitalist organisation, a passion that continues to inform his music and life. After honing his skills as an autodidact, he studied at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu. Today, he resides in Brooklyn, New York, where he performs regularly and teaches, maintaining an international touring career with seven albums under his belt as a bandleader.

His latest album, "Efimero," is a testament to his improvisational prowess, featuring 11 entirely improvised pieces created in collaboration with drummer Gonzalo del Val. Marquès' music is not just about the notes; it's about the stories, the emotions, and the connections he forges with his audience. His performances are a journey through sound, politics, and personal history, making each concert an unforgettable experience.
