About Julian Lloyd Webber
Julian Lloyd Webber, the celebrated British cellist, conductor, and broadcaster, has left an indelible mark on the classical music world. Born into a musical family—his brother is the renowned composer Andrew Lloyd Webber—Julian has enjoyed a distinguished career marked by innovation and excellence. As a soloist, he has premiered over sixty works for cello, collaborating with composers as diverse as Malcolm Arnold, Philip Glass, and his brother Andrew. His extensive discography includes the Brit Award-winning recording of Elgar's Cello Concerto, conducted by Yehudi Menuhin. Beyond his performing career, Julian is deeply committed to music education, founding the UK Government’s In Harmony programme and serving as the former principal of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. His contributions to music have earned him the title of 'the doyen of British cellists,' making him a true icon in the classical music scene.
