Dwijendra Deepali

Dwijen Mukherjee, a legendary figure in Indian music, captivated audiences for over six decades with his enchanting voice and profound musicality. Born in 1927 in Calcutta, Mukherjee was a maestro of Rabindrasangeet, the soulful compositions of Rabindranath Tagore, and a virtuoso of Bengali and Hindi film songs. His career, marked by a Hemanta-like timbre, began to blossom in the late 1940s through his association with the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) and the renowned composer Salil Chowdhury. Mukherjee's repertoire, enriched by training under musical stalwarts like Sushanto Lahiri and Pankaj Mullick, includes timeless classics such as "Pallabini Go Sancharini" and "Abar Dujane Dekha."
