Rolf Ericson, born in Stockholm in 1922, was a Swedish jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player whose career spanned decades and continents. In 1947, he moved to New York City, where he joined the likes of Charlie Barnet and Woody Herman, solidifying his reputation in the vibrant American jazz scene. Throughout his career, Ericson collaborated with legendary musicians such as Charlie Parker, Paul Gonsalves, Lars Gullin, and Charles Mingus, and even became one of the first white musicians to secure a permanent position with Duke Ellington.
