Fantasies 10th Anniversary Concert

Celebrating a decade of musical excellence, the Showa Wind Symphony presents their 10th Anniversary Concert album, "Fantasies." Released on January 1, 2009, under the CAFUA label, this orchestral masterpiece spans a captivating 75 minutes, offering a diverse and enriching listening experience.

The album opens with the lively "Quartets" and continues with a delightful arrangement of "Allegro scherzando" for Wind Ensemble. A significant highlight is the "Fantasies on a Theme by Haydn," a three-part suite that showcases the ensemble's virtuosity and versatility. The album also features the profound "Axis Mundi" with its two contrasting movements, "Apatheia" and "Hedone," as well as the elegant "1st Suite in E-Flat Major, Op. 28 No. 1, H. 105," comprising a Chaconne, Intermezzo, and March.

Adding a touch of whimsy, "Popcopy" is a three-movement piece that includes "More Cowbell," "One Time at Band Camp," and "Serenity Now," demonstrating the ensemble's playful side. The album concludes with the sultry "A Little Tango Music," leaving listeners with a memorable finale.
