Lukas Foss, born Lukas Fuchs in Berlin in 1922, was a multifaceted musical genius who left an indelible mark on the world of classical music as a composer, pianist, and conductor. His family's escape from the Nazis led them to Paris and eventually to the United States, where Foss continued his musical education at prestigious institutions like the Curtis Institute of Music and the Berkshire Music Center.
