His career spanned opera and orchestral performances, with notable stints as the chief conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and guest conductor for the Royal Ballet. Ermler's discography includes celebrated recordings of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker," as well as works by Beethoven, Borodin, and Mussorgsky. His dynamic interpretations and rich, burnished sonorities continue to captivate audiences worldwide. Ermler passed away in Seoul in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of powerful and emotive performances.
