Håkan Hardenberger, born in Malmö, Sweden, is celebrated as one of the world's foremost trumpet soloists, renowned for his phenomenal performances and innovative spirit. His 60th birthday season featured two extraordinary concertos: Jörg Widmann's "Towards Paradise" and Helen Grime's "night-sky-blue," both co-commissioned by prestigious orchestras and foundations. Hardenberger's virtuosity and artistry have earned him accolades from critics and audiences alike, performing with the world's leading orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and Wiener Philharmoniker.
