Dwijen Mukherjee, a legendary figure in Indian music, captivated audiences for over six decades with his enchanting voice and profound musicality. Born in 1927 in Calcutta, Mukherjee was a maestro of Rabindrasangeet, the soulful compositions of Rabindranath Tagore, and a virtuoso of Bengali and Hindi film songs. His career, marked by a Hemanta-like timbre, began to blossom in the late 1940s through his association with the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA) and the renowned composer Salil Chowdhury.
