Jan Johansson was a pioneering Swedish jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, renowned for his unique fusion of traditional Swedish folk tunes with jazz influences. Born in 1931, Johansson's career was tragically cut short when he died in a car crash at the age of 37 in 1968. Johansson was the pianist of choice for legendary saxophonist Stan Getz during his time in Scandinavia and was the only European to play with Norman Granz' Jazz at the Philharmonic.
