Scott Joplin, renowned as the "King of Ragtime," was an American composer and pianist whose innovative compositions bridged the gap between classical music and the vibrant, syncopated rhythms of African American folk music. Born into a musical family in Texarkana around 1867-1868, Joplin's early exposure to various musical influences laid the foundation for his groundbreaking work.
