About Greg Abate

Greg Abate is a renowned jazz saxophonist, flautist, composer, and arranger, celebrated for his virtuosic performances and extensive global tours. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, and raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Abate's musical journey began at the age of ten when he picked up the clarinet. His career took off when he joined Ray Charles' Orchestra, where he honed his skills as a lead alto saxophonist. Following this, Abate ventured into a solo career, forming his group Channel One and establishing himself as a post-hard bop soloist. Known for his fluency on multiple instruments, including alto, tenor, soprano, baritone saxophones, and flute, Abate's music is a testament to his deep understanding and mastery of the jazz genre. With a touring schedule that keeps him on the road for up to 250 days a year, Abate's dynamic performances continue to captivate audiences worldwide, solidifying his status as one of the finest jazz players of his generation.
