About Type O Negative
Type O Negative, the iconic American gothic/doom metal band, emerged from the grimy streets of Brooklyn, New York City, in 1989. Founded by the enigmatic Peter Steele, alongside Kenny Hickey, Josh Silver, and Sal Abruscato (later replaced by Johnny Kelly), the band quickly gained a reputation for their unique blend of heavy, doom-laden sound and eerie, romantic lyrics that delved into themes of love, depression, and mortality. Dubbed "the Drab Four," Type O Negative's music is as much a journey into the darker corners of the human psyche as it is a celebration of life's bittersweet moments. With a discography that includes seven studio albums, two best-of compilations, and concert DVDs, the band's influence is undeniable. Their breakthrough album, "Bloody Kisses," went platinum in 1993, followed by the gold-certified "October Rust" in 1996. Type O Negative's music is not just an auditory experience; it's a full immersion into a world of gothic imagery and emotional depth, making them a standout act in the metal genre.
