About Sam Newsome

Sam Newsome is a versatile American jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator known for his innovative blend of straight-ahead jazz, world music, and experimental jazz techniques. Emerging in the mid-1990s with Leon Parker's group, Newsome has since established himself as a formidable talent, particularly on the soprano saxophone, where his playing often draws comparisons to the legendary Steve Lacy.
