About Jiří Bárta

Jiří Bárta is a renowned Czech cellist, celebrated for his virtuosity and contributions to both classical and contemporary music. Born in Prague, Jiří's musical journey has taken him across the globe, performing in major concert halls throughout Europe, North and South America. His career gained significant momentum in the early 1990s when he established himself among the elite of European cellists. Jiří's extensive education, spanning studies in Prague, Cologne, and Los Angeles, has enriched his musical prowess, earning him the prestigious Europäische Förderpreis für Musik in 1991. Beyond his solo performances, Jiří is an enthusiastic chamber musician, co-founding the Kutná Hora Chamber Music Festival, which bridges the worlds of classical and contemporary music. His discography includes notable works such as "Dvořák: Miniatures, Bagatelles, Terzetto" and "Bohemian Folk Songs." Jiří's influence extends beyond performance; from 1997 to 2019, he led the Nadace Via foundation, dedicated to promoting art and community engagement in the Czech Republic.
