Oscar Peterson, born in Montreal to West Indian immigrants, was a titan of jazz piano, renowned for his virtuosic technique and captivating performances. Known affectionately as the "Maharaja of the keyboard" and the "King of inside swing," Peterson's career spanned over six decades, during which he released more than 200 recordings and won eight Grammy Awards, including a lifetime achievement honor. Peterson's immense talent was evident from his childhood, and he continued to innovate and inspire until his passing in 2007, leaving behind an extraordinary musical legacy that continues to influence and delight fans worldwide.
