Giovanni Maier is an accomplished Italian composer and bassist whose musical journey spans over three decades. Beginning his professional career in 1986 after graduating from the "G. Tartini" Music Academy in Trieste, Maier has seamlessly blended his classical training with a deep-rooted passion for jazz. He co-founded the Transition Jazz Group and has since collaborated with a myriad of renowned musicians, including Enrico Rava, Cecil Taylor, and Anthony Braxton, among others. Maier's discography is vast, featuring over 250 albums that showcase his versatility across nu jazz and free jazz genres. Beyond his performances, Maier is also the founder and curator of Palomar Records, a label that reflects his meticulous approach to music and his commitment to exploring the boundless universe of sound. His work is a testament to his artistic prowess and his enduring influence in the jazz world.
