Sharon Isbin is a trailblazing American classical guitarist renowned for her extraordinary lyricism, technique, and versatility. As the first guitarist to win a Grammy, she has shaped the landscape of contemporary classical guitar with over 35 albums to her credit. Isbin's journey began at the age of nine in Italy, and she later studied under the legendary Andrés Segovia. She is the founding director of the guitar department at the Juilliard School and has been instrumental in breaking barriers in the classical music world. Her collaborations span diverse genres and artists, from Joan Baez to Indian classical musicians, reflecting her broad-minded approach to music. Isbin is also known for her philanthropic efforts, particularly her work with the David Lynch Foundation to bring Transcendental Meditation to at-risk communities.
