This is followed by "Horloge, tais-toi !," a powerful piece for choir and piano, and "Écho !," a three-movement work that explores different moods and intensities. The album also includes "Tag des Jahrs," a four-movement work that depicts the changing seasons, and "Reconnaissance," a five-movement exploration of space and humanity, featuring the haunting "Requiem" as its final movement.
Performed by the Helsingin kamarikuoro and Uusinta Ensemble under the musical direction of Nils Schweckendiek, this album is a profound exploration of Saariaho's unique musical language.
