Rocco Granata, born in the picturesque region of Calabria, Italy, is an Italian-Belgian singer, songwriter, and accordionist who has left an indelible mark on the music world. Born in 1938, Granata's journey began when his family immigrated to Belgium at the age of ten, where his father worked as a coal miner. Instead of following in his father's footsteps, Granata pursued his passion for music, becoming a renowned accordionist and touring Belgium with his band, 'The International Quintet.'

Granata's career skyrocketed with the release of his iconic song "Marina" in 1959, which became an international hit and his best-known track. Originally released as the B-side of "Manuela," "Marina" quickly outshone its counterpart, reaching the top spot on Hitkrant's List of European number-one hits in 1960. This romantic ballad, sung in Italian, Flemish, and German, has captivated audiences worldwide with its dramatic melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
