Instead of following in his father's footsteps, Granata pursued his passion for music, becoming a renowned accordionist and touring Belgium with his band, 'The International Quintet.'

Granata's career skyrocketed with the release of his iconic song "Marina" in 1959, which became an international hit and his best-known track. Originally released as the B-side of "Manuela," "Marina" quickly outshone its counterpart, reaching the top spot on Hitkrant's List of European number-one hits in 1960.
