About Anders Koppel

Anders Koppel is a versatile and innovative composer and musician, renowned for his unique blend of classical and contemporary influences. Born in Copenhagen in 1947, Koppel's journey in music began with the founding of the iconic rock band Savage Rose in 1967, where he collaborated with his brother Thomas. His musical prowess extends beyond rock, encompassing a wide range of genres and instruments. Koppel has composed four concertos for marimba, showcasing his versatility and depth as a composer. He has also been a member of the trio Bazaar from 1976 to 2012 and currently performs with the trio Koppel-Andersen-Koppel, which includes his son, saxophonist Benjamin Koppel. Koppel's contributions to film music are equally impressive, having twice received the Danish film award Robert for best film score. His work is a testament to his ability to bridge traditional European musical traditions with modern and global influences, making him a standout figure in the world of contemporary music.
