Ramkumar Chatterjee, born in 1921 in North Kolkata, was a revered figure in the world of Bengali classical music. Hailing from a family with a rich musical background, Chatterjee began his musical journey under the guidance of his grandfather, a classical singer, and later studied under the renowned Jatin Chatterjee of the Bishnupur gharana. Known as the 'last emperor' of Bangla Puratoni Gaan, Ramkumar Chatterjee was instrumental in reviving the legacy of the iconic Nidhubabu, preserving the traditional songs of Bengal.
