About The Monks of Pluscarden Abbey

The Monks of Pluscarden Abbey offer a unique and timeless musical experience, rooted in centuries of tradition. Hailing from Pluscarden Abbey, a remote Benedictine monastery nestled on the edge of the Scottish Highlands in Moray, these monks are part of a community that has been actively practicing their faith since the monastery's founding in 1230. Today, the abbey is home to around 20 monks who dedicate their lives to a contemplative existence, singing the Mass and Office in the resplendent tones of Gregorian chant, all in Latin. Their music is a living testament to the enduring power of medieval monastic traditions, providing a serene and spiritual journey for anyone who listens.
