Thierry Caens et le piston magique

Thierry Caens, born in 1958 in Dijon, France, is a renowned classical trumpeter whose career spans over four decades. Beginning his musical journey at the tender age of six under the tutelage of his father, Marcel Caens, Thierry's talent quickly became evident. He went on to study with esteemed musicians Robert Pichaureau and Pierre Pollin before securing a place in Maurice André's class at the Paris Conservatoire, where he earned first prizes for both trumpet and cornet in 1977 and 1978, respectively.

Caens' virtuosity has taken him to the world's most prestigious stages, from the Victoria Hall in Geneva to the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, and from the Palau de la Música in Barcelona to the Salle Pleyel in Paris. His repertoire is vast, encompassing works from Baroque masters like Johann Sebastian Bach to contemporary composers such as Michel Legrand. Beyond his solo performances, Caens has also made significant contributions as a composer, arranger, conductor, educator, and producer.

In addition to his classical prowess, Caens has explored various musical genres, including jazz and even tango. He has founded notable ensembles like the Camerata de Bourgogne and the circus show "Le Piston Magique," showcasing his versatility and innovative spirit. After four decades of dedicated teaching at the Dijon Conservatoire, Caens continues to inspire new generations of musicians, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest trumpet players of all time.
