About Nils Wogram
Nils Wogram is a renowned German jazz trombonist, composer, and bandleader celebrated for his virtuosic playing and innovative compositions. Born in 1972, Wogram began his musical journey at the age of fifteen, quickly rising through the ranks to perform with the National German Youth Big Band and form his own ensembles. His debut album, "New York Conversations," released in 1994, marked the beginning of a prolific career that has since seen him release over 20 albums as a bandleader.
Wogram's music is deeply rooted in jazz tradition, yet he continually pushes boundaries by incorporating diverse rhythmic structures, melodic, and harmonic elements from various musical genres. His bands, which play exclusively his original compositions, are known for their unique ensemble sounds and dynamic performances. Notable groups include the Vertigo Trombone Quartet and Root 70, a classic jazz quartet that emphasizes transparency and light acoustic sound.
In addition to his performing career, Wogram is an accomplished educator, teaching at the conservatory in Lucerne, Switzerland. He also founded his own record label, nwog-records, in 2010, providing a platform for his creative vision.
