Erling Ditlev Bjerno (1929–2019) was a prolific Danish composer and organist whose career spanned over six decades. Trained as an organist, Bjerno served at Ansgar Church in Aalborg and taught at Nordjysk Music Conservatory from 1967 to 1996. As a composer, he was largely self-taught and made his debut in 1961 with his Symphony No. 1. Bjerno's extensive catalog includes around 300 works, encompassing symphonies, chamber music, choral pieces, and music for theater, radio, and television. His compositions are known for their sensitivity to text and emotional depth, making him one of Denmark's most productive and versatile composers.
