Michel Wintsch is a Swiss avant-garde jazz composer and pianist known for his distinctive and personal musical style. Born in Geneva in 1964, Wintsch's journey with music began in childhood, evolving into a lifelong passion and dedication to the craft. His extensive discography spans over fifty albums, showcasing his prowess as a pianist and his innovative approach to composition.

Wintsch has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Franz Koglmann and Gerry Hemingway, with whom he formed the WHO trio in 1998. This trio, completed by bassist Bänz Oester, is celebrated for its unique and idiosyncratic sound. Throughout his career, Wintsch has also worked with various ensembles and solo projects, continually pushing the boundaries of jazz and improvisation.

In addition to his performing and recording work, Wintsch is actively involved in education and musical direction, serving as Musical Director at Shakespeare's Globe and teaching at the Royal Academy of Music.
