About Steve Nieve
Steve Nieve, born Stephen John Nason in 1958, is an English musician and composer whose career spans over four decades. Renowned for his distinctive keyboard playing, Nieve is best known for his long-standing collaboration with Elvis Costello, serving as a member of Costello's backing bands, the Attractions and the Imposters. His work with Costello has left an indelible mark on the music world, contributing to some of the most iconic sounds of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Beyond his work with Costello, Nieve has also been a prolific session musician, lending his talents to a diverse array of artists including Madness, Morrissey, David Bowie, and Squeeze. His versatility and virtuosity on the piano and various keyboards have made him a sought-after collaborator, adding depth and richness to countless recordings.
Nieve's musical journey began at the Royal College of Music, where he honed his skills in composition and piano. His early work with the Vox organ, notably on Elvis Costello's early hits, showcased his unique style and technical prowess.
