Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari, born in Venice in 1876 to a German father and an Italian mother, was a composer whose music beautifully blended the traditions of Italian opera buffa and German romanticism. Wolf-Ferrari is celebrated for his comic operas, many of which are based on the plays of Carlo Goldoni. His works, such as "Il segreto di Susanna" (1909), "Le donne curiose" (1903), "I quattro rusteghi" (1906), and "Il campiello" (1936), are renowned for their lyrical melodies, lightheartedness, and rich harmonic palette.
