Bohuslän Big Band

The Bohuslän Big Band, hailing from Sweden, is a dynamic and contemporary jazz orchestra that masterfully blends tradition and innovation. With a rich history dating back to the early 1800s as a military band, the ensemble has evolved into one of Sweden's premier professional big bands, comprising 16 full-time musicians. Known for their fearless and exploratory approach, the Bohuslän Big Band both honors and challenges the big band genre, performing a mix of original compositions and works by renowned artists like Lars Jansson, Maria Schneider, and Frank Zappa. They have collaborated with international jazz legends such as Danilo Perez, Vince Mendoza, and Maria Schneider, and have toured extensively both domestically and internationally, including performances in Japan, China, and the United States. Their home base is Vara Konserthus, and their rehearsal spaces are in Mölndal, from where they continue to inspire and captivate audiences with their unique sound and vibrant performances.
