Diyang Mei is a distinguished violist who has swiftly made a significant mark on the classical music scene. Born in China in 1994, Mei began his musical journey on the violin at the age of five before transitioning to the viola. His exceptional talent was recognized early, and he studied with renowned violist Shaowu Wang from 2005 to 2014. Mei's breakthrough came with his first-place win in the viola section of the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in 2018, where he also received the Audience Prize. Since then, he has held the prestigious position of 1st principal viola with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with esteemed ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
