Duo Polaris

Duo Polaris, comprising Gillian Blair on saxophone and Elinor Nicholson on harp, is a captivating musical duo known for their dedication to presenting new music and expanding the repertoire for their unique instrument pairing. Formed in 2011 while studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, the duo has since made a significant impact on the classical music scene. Duo Polaris is renowned for their innovative approach to music, often arranging existing works and commissioning new pieces from contemporary composers. This has led them to perform numerous UK, European, and World premieres, showcasing their commitment to pushing musical boundaries. Their debut album, 'illuminate,' released in 2018, garnered critical acclaim and earned them the title of BBC Introducing Artists, with live performances on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ program. Duo Polaris has also been featured as 'New Generation Artists' for the Lake District Summer Music Concert Series and won second prize in the 2015 British Harp Chamber Music Competition. With a focus on tango and a passion for collaborating with composers, Duo Polaris continues to enchant audiences with their unique sound and musical prowess.
