Federico Mompou

Federico Mompou, born in Barcelona in 1893, was a Spanish composer and pianist renowned for his delicate and emotionally resonant compositions. Often dubbed the 'Poet of the Piano', Mompou's music is characterised by its simplicity, profound emotional depth, and a unique blend of minimalist and romantic elements. His works, such as the 'Cançons i danses' and 'Musica callada', are celebrated for their heartfelt spontaneity and sophisticated charm. Mompou began his musical journey at a young age, studying piano under Pedro Sierra and giving his first concert at just 15.
