Frank Wunsch

Frank Wunsch is a renowned German jazz pianist, composer, and educator, born in Bochum in 1945. With a strong foundation in classical piano, Wunsch studied under esteemed teachers such as Günther Faber, Prof. Alfons Kontarsky, and Prof. Joachim Blume. His musical journey took a significant turn when he began collaborating with legendary saxophonist Lee Konitz in 1986, leading to a profound and enduring musical partnership. Together, they released several acclaimed albums, including "An Evening with Lee Konitz & Frank Wunsch" and "The Frankfurt Concert," showcasing their mastery of cool jazz, bebop, and avant-garde styles. Wunsch's extensive discography also includes collaborations with other notable musicians and his own compositions, reflecting his unique artistic vision and technical prowess. Beyond his performing career, Wunsch has dedicated himself to teaching, sharing his knowledge and passion for music with the next generation of musicians at the Cologne Academy of Music.
