Gilbert Holmström

Gilbert Holmström, the Swedish jazz saxophonist and composer, is a living legend who has been shaping the Swedish jazz scene since the 1960s. Born in Gothenburg in 1937, Holmström's musical journey began in a family deeply rooted in music, with both parents playing instruments and introducing him to the sounds of American jazz. After studying dentistry, Holmström pursued his passion for music, studying alto saxophone and making his debut with the album "Utan Misstankar" in 1965. Throughout his career, he has been a pivotal figure in Swedish jazz, earning a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Swedish Jazz Association and recently being nominated for a Grammis for his album "Peak." Known for his collaborations with notable musicians and his influential band Mount Everest, Holmström continues to inspire generations of musicians and fans alike. At 87, he remains active, proving that his love for jazz and his extraordinary talent are timeless.
