Harald Sæverud

Harald Sæverud, born in Bergen, Norway, in 1897, was a prolific composer whose music is deeply rooted in Norwegian folk traditions. His compositions, which include nine symphonies, have solidified his status as one of Scandinavia's most significant symphonists of the 20th century. Sæverud's most renowned works include "Kjempeviseslåtten" (1943) and "Rondo Amoroso" (1939). Like his predecessor Edvard Grieg, Sæverud also contributed music to Henrik Ibsen's "Peer Gynt," with his version now more frequently performed in stage productions. Sæverud's compositions often blend elements of Norwegian folk music, creating a unique and captivating sound that continues to resonate with audiences today.
