Hermann Prey

Hermann Prey, the celebrated German lyric baritone, captivated audiences worldwide with his versatile and expressive performances in opera, Lieder, and oratorio. Born in Berlin in 1929, Prey's career spanned nearly five decades, during which he became renowned for his interpretations of Schubert's song cycles, including "Die schöne Müllerin" and "Die Winterreise," as well as works by Mozart, Strauss, and Rossini. His historic portrayal of Papageno in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" catapulted him to fame, making him one of Germany's most beloved opera singers.
