Joan Magrané
Joan Magrané Figuera, born in 1988 in Reus, Spain, is a prolific and acclaimed Catalan composer whose music is celebrated for its personal and evocative qualities. With over eighty works to his name, Magrané's compositions have been performed across Europe, earning him numerous international prizes, including the prestigious Queen Sofía Composition Prize in 2013. His musical journey began with studies under Ramon Humet, followed by advanced training at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya with Agustín Charles, the Kunst Universität Graz with Beat Furrer, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris with Stefano Gervasoni. Magrané's innovative works have been commissioned and performed by renowned ensembles and orchestras, such as the London Sinfonietta and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. His compositions often explore the intersection of poetry and voice, creating a rich and immersive sound world that captivates audiences.
