Jürnjakob Timm is a renowned German cellist whose career has been marked by exceptional artistry and dedication. Born in 1949 in Neubrandenburg, Timm's musical journey began with studies at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, where he honed his skills under the guidance of Friedemann Erben. His talent quickly gained recognition, earning him multiple international competition prizes during his studies and artistic residency.

For over four decades, Timm served as the principal cellist of the prestigious Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and was a key member of the Gewandhaus Quartet. His collaborations with legendary conductor Kurt Masur resulted in memorable recordings, including Schumann’s Cello Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, both captured in the acoustically rich Paul Gerhardt Church in Leipzig.
