Kammersveit Reykjavíkur, established in 1974 by Rut Ingólfsdóttir, is a renowned chamber music ensemble that has been a cornerstone of Iceland's musical landscape for nearly five decades. Founded with a dozen young musicians who had recently returned from advanced studies abroad, the orchestra has since grown into a formidable group that performs a wide range of repertoire, spanning from Baroque to contemporary works. Kammersveit Reykjavíkur has not only enriched the local music scene but has also represented Iceland on international stages, including performances at World Expos in Lisbon and Hannover, and at the opening of the Icelandic embassy in Tokyo.
