Larry Stabbins
Larry Stabbins is a British jazz saxophonist, flutist, and composer with a career spanning over five decades. Born in Bristol in 1949, he began his musical journey at the age of eight, learning the clarinet, and soon after, the saxophone. Stabbins' musical prowess has seen him collaborate with giants of European free jazz and improvisation, including Keith Tippett, Peter Brötzmann, and Tony Oxley. He has also been a part of notable projects such as the legendary 50-piece orchestra Centipede, cult pop group Weekend, and the Latin Soul jazz band Working Week. Stabbins' work is characterized by his measured command of musical improvisation, making him a standout figure in the jazz world. His recent projects include the Sarost Trio and solo works under the moniker Stonephace, showcasing his versatility across various genres, from psychedelic hip-hop to spiritual jazz. With a discography that spans numerous albums and collaborations, Larry Stabbins continues to be a dynamic force in contemporary jazz.
