Lars Vogt

Lars Vogt (1970-2022) was a celebrated German classical pianist and conductor, renowned for his profound interpretations of the Austro-German Romantic repertoire. Vogt's career took off after securing the second prize at the 1990 Leeds International Piano Competition, leading him to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Royal Northern Sinfonia, where he also served as music director. His discography spans a wide range of composers, from Bach and Mozart to the Romantics like Schumann, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. Vogt was not only a virtuoso on the stage but also a dedicated educator, succeeding his teacher Karl-Heinz Kämmerling as a professor of piano at the Musikhochschule Hannover. He also founded the Spannungen Festival, a testament to his passion for chamber music. Despite his battle with cancer, Vogt continued to inspire audiences with his musical brilliance until his passing in 2022.
