Louis Andriessen

Louis Andriessen, born in 1939 in Utrecht, is a Dutch composer and pianist who has left an indelible mark on the international new music scene. Widely regarded as the leading composer in the Netherlands, Andriessen's music is a vibrant synthesis of American minimalism, big band jazz, and the expressive power of Igor Stravinsky. Initially influenced by neoclassicism and serialism, his style evolved into a unique voice that has captivated audiences for over five decades. Hailing from a musical family, with both his father and brother being established composers, Andriessen's work is deeply rooted in innovation and experimentation.
