Malek Jandali is a Syrian-American composer and pianist renowned for his unique fusion of Middle-Eastern modes and Arabic maqams with Western classical structures. Born in West Germany to Syrian parents, Jandali's music is celebrated for its "heart-rending melodies, lush orchestration, clever transitions, and creative textures" (American Record Guide). His compositions, often deeply enigmatic and evocative, have been hailed as "a major new addition to the 21st century’s symphonic literature" (Fanfare magazine). A vocal advocate for human rights and peace, Jandali is the founder of Pianos for Peace, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building peace through music and education. He serves as composer-in-residence at Queens University of Charlotte and Qatar Museums, continuing to inspire and create music that transcends borders and fosters unity.
