Marc Coppey

Marc Coppey is a renowned French cellist celebrated for his vibrant performances and deep musical curiosity. Born in Strasbourg in 1969, Coppey's career took off when he won the top prizes at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition at just 18 years old, catching the attention of legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin. Since then, he has performed with esteemed orchestras and musicians worldwide, earning acclaim for his exceptional interpretations and extensive exploration of chamber music. Coppey is not only a passionate performer but also a dedicated educator, serving as a professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris and conducting masterclasses globally. He is the artistic director of the Festival Les Musicales de Colmar and the musical director of the Solistes de Zagreb orchestra. Coppey's repertoire spans from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, and he performs on a rare Matteo Goffriller cello from 1711. His discography includes notable recordings such as the complete works for cello by Fauré and the Bach Cello Suites.
