Marisa Robles

Marisa Robles is a renowned Spanish harpist and composer, celebrated for her virtuosic performances and significant contributions to classical music. Born on May 4, 1937, in Spain, Robles began her musical journey at a young age, studying the harp with Luisa Menarguez and graduating from the Madrid Conservatory at just sixteen. Her concert debut at seventeen, alongside flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal, performing Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp, marked the beginning of an illustrious career. Robles' interpretations, particularly of Mozart and other classical masters, are revered for their authenticity and depth. She has recorded extensively, including notable works with flautist James Galway. After immigrating to the UK, she became a visiting professor of harp at the Royal College of Music in 1971. Robles' legacy includes compositions written specifically for her, such as Joaquín Rodrigo's "Sones en la Giralda," a wedding gift that showcases her enduring influence in the world of classical music.
