Martin Suckling

Martin Suckling is a versatile British composer and violinist, born in Glasgow in 1981. His musical journey began with performances in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and ceilidh bands, showcasing his early prowess and passion for music. Suckling's compositions have garnered acclaim from leading orchestras and ensembles, including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, BBC Philharmonic, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. His work spans intimate chamber music and songs, reflecting his deep connection to his Scottish roots and his ability to enchant audiences with his unique musical language. Beyond his composing and performing, Suckling is also an educator, serving as Professor of Composition and Deputy Head of the School of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of York.
